Lol any attempt to change anything in WA is met with loud resistance. Don't know how many years it took to get Sunday trading and slightly later shopping hours. And the state government can forget about daylight savings anytime soon.... |
We'll never be those kids again

I live in Brampton. The most blandest, boring city in Canada. But really, it's an okay place. Theres not that much crime and if it is, it's probably some drug related crap. It's fairly big as it's one of the major cities in the Greater Toronto Area. I would rather live in a small populated area if I had the choice. Edited by Yusuke, Sep 9 2013, 06:15 PM.

I live in a medium sized city, around 130 000. There is literally no crime to speak of. I walk around the city at 2 am and I feel completely safe. |

Small village (Wikipedia has the population at somewhere around the 2,000 mark?), 1 mile from the beach (awesome), quite quiet, no real traffic issues aside from the people who ignore road signs, markings, one-way systems. Most of the population seems to be either people in their 70s/80s, and parents with young kids. Many of them like to think they are cast members on Desperate Housewives. Could be a blessing or a curse, but everyone seems to know everything about everyone else, if they've lived here for more than 5 years or so. Seeing as how my mother owns a small business, this is amplified somewhat so there's kind of that pressure to do well, because chances are, everyone will know what's going on in our lives. Last instance of 'crime' was an attempted break-in around Christmas last year. And there's a gang of 14-year-olds that yell abuse at people for kicks, smoke pot at the local bus stop, cause chaos because they find it fun, but apart from the shocking lack of respect for anyone else, I've never known them cause any real danger to anyone aside from instances where they've run in front of cars and such. I'd rather they didn't do it, because it means people make assumptions about anyone their age, of course. Big holiday trade (though Trip Advisor won't tell you anything positive, which I can understand), cheap and nasty holidays, lots of chavs in the summer, basically. I tend ton avoid the beach for that reason, which is a shame, because I love being near the sea. Don't much like crowds either. The place needs some serious tidying up, and I think business owners are trying to make it happen, but most people aren't interested. British East Coast in a nutshell. A ... large nutshell. Damn it. |
| Oh, look. Another personal blog about writing. Whatever. | |
